Artists and studio specialisms

Every artist at softuriona works through the same consultation-led process—reference review, placement checks, and documented aftercare—while keeping a distinct visual language. Use this page to choose a style direction, or request “no preference” and we will match the right hands to the idea.

How to choose an artist

Style is not just aesthetics—it changes technique. Fine line relies on controlled depth and consistent hand speed to keep edges crisp once the epidermis settles. Blackwork depends on clean saturation and thoughtful negative space so large fills heal evenly without patchiness. For cover-ups, the unglamorous work happens before the stencil: we assess pigment density, edge softness, and where the previous tattoo will remain visible no matter what. That assessment is what makes a cover-up look intentional rather than busy.

If you already know the style, pick an artist whose portfolio shows repeated results in that lane. If you only have a subject idea, request a consultation and write “match me to an artist.” We will respond with a recommendation and a realistic session-length estimate. When the placement is complex—ribs, inner arm, or high-friction areas—we will also advise on pacing and healing windows so the final texture stays clean.

Artist A.

Custom Tattoo Artist • Fine line, illustrative micro-detail

Artist A. focuses on fine line pieces where the draft is as important as the session itself. Their planning process is deliberate: line hierarchy, breathing room, and a stencil test that checks how the design reads when the limb moves. Expect careful needle grouping choices and measured pacing to avoid overworking an area.

Portfolio focus: botanical linework, minimal portraits, small ornamental composition, clean typography integration.

Artist B.

Tattoo Artist • Blackwork, graphic shading, cover-up structure

Artist B. specialises in bold compositions where contrast carries the design. For cover-ups and reworks, they start with what the old tattoo is doing—edges, density, and the “ghost zones” that need texture—then redraw the piece so the older pigment becomes part of the architecture. Sessions are mapped to healing windows, especially for large fills.

Portfolio focus: blackwork florals, graphic animals, texture fields, reworks that prioritise readability at distance.

Artist C.

Piercer • Precision placement and jewellery fit

Artist C. runs piercing with a measurement-first approach: placement is checked with you in the mirror, jewellery sizing is confirmed, and aftercare is explained before the procedure begins. The goal is calm execution and predictable healing—no mystery steps and no rushed decisions.

Portfolio focus: ear curation planning, clean placement, aftercare guidance for different healing timelines.

What to include in your request

A strong consultation request saves time and avoids avoidable rework. Include placement, approximate size in centimetres, and the style direction (fine line, blackwork, illustrative, or cover-up). If the piece is a cover-up, describe the age of the existing tattoo, whether any colours were used, and whether the area has been reworked before. Those details affect how we plan contrast and what textures will hold after healing.

Reference images are useful when they show composition rather than copying a tattoo. A short note on what you like—line weight, shading style, density, or negative space—is more actionable than ten unrelated images. If timing matters, add your target date and any constraints around travel or work schedule; we will reply with a realistic session plan.

Placement and size

Tell us where the piece sits and the rough dimensions. Placement changes how a tattoo moves, and the size sets what detail will survive.

Style direction

Fine line, blackwork, illustrative, or a mix. If unsure, describe what you want the tattoo to feel like: minimal, dense, soft, or graphic.

Reference and notes

Add a few references and highlight the exact parts you like—line weight, shading texture, composition, or negative space.

Timing and constraints

Share your preferred dates and any schedule limits. It helps us propose a pacing plan that respects healing windows.
